Jonathan Bennett becomes the King of Gay Christmas in only two years. Plus his d*ck and a bonus Buddy Keaton butt

A new d*ck pick of Jonathan Bennett popped up on one of my celebrity sites, so I checked out his Instagram to see if he was a good candidate for a profile.

Whoa, what a surprise. You can usually identify a gay actor from his social media posts (I only check Instagram and Facebook).  Straight guys begin their taglines with "married to the most incredibly gorgeous woman in the world" and post 3,000 pictures of the two holding hands, kissing, going to formal events, celebrating holidays, and discussing how much they love each other.  Gay guys keep  mum; they post a lot of photos with women, and maybe one in a hundred with their boyfriend, but they don't tell us who he is.  Even when they are out; I guess they don't want the homophobic pushback.

Take Buddy Keaton: The first 40 posts on his Instagram display no men at all, but 15 show him hugging, kissing, being licked by, and going to the beach with women.

He also invites us to try out his Diet Coke and his butt, but you have to really read between the lines to deduce gay identity from that.

But Jonathan Bennett: the first 40 posts on his Instagram mention his husband 13 times and show him 10 times (including two kissing shots).

So who is this guy who is so completely out in an era where most gay guys closet their social media?

1. He's been around forever

Jonathan grew up in Rossford, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo, and got a few on-screen gigs while studying drama at Otterbein College.  Six months after graduating, he was in New York, playing bad boy JR Chandler on the soap All My Children (2001-02).

He played Aaron Samuels, football jock (of course) who is fought over by Cady and Regina in Mean Girls (2004).

The teenage Bo Duke, who joins forces with his teenage cousin Luke (Randy Wayne) to save Uncle Jesse's farm in the Dukes of Hazzard prequel, The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007).

The hetero horny Van Wilder, living it up and getting girls as the teenage version of the Ryan Reynolds character, in the prequel Van Wilder: Freshman Year.

More after the break

2. He only started playing gay characters recently.

Up until 2023, Jonathan played mostly straight guys who find love.  As far as I can tell, his only gay character appeared in a 2016 two-episode story arc on  Hit the Floor.  He plays a sports agent who  tries to get with Jude, the estranged son of the baseball team's curmudgeonly owner.  Jude goes on to several other gay relationships, such as with player Zero.

But in 2023, something clicked, and it's been almost all gay guys ever since.

In a 2023 episode of the revamped Fantasy Island, his Oliver has the fantasy of a perfect proposal to his boyfriend. Do you really need Mr. Roarke's supernatural machinations for that?

He marries his boyfriend in one of the three Groomsmen movies (2024).

He is shipwrecked on the two-part season finale of Doctor Odyssey (2025), but is eventually reunited with his boyfriend.

And that's not even including Christmas.

3. He's the King of Gay Christmas

Although Jonathan appeared as the straight leads in Christmas romcoms like Holiday High School Reunion (2012) and Christmas Made to Order (2018), he made history with The Christmas House (2020), the first Hallmark holiday romcom with a significant gay character.  His Brandon is the brother of the focus character (Robert Buckley), who finds love at Christmas.  His own subplot is about trying to adopt a child with his husband (Brad Harder).  There was a sequel in 2021.

In The Holiday Sitter (2022), Jonathan taes the lead, agreeing to babysit his rambunctious niece and nephew over the holidays and falling in love with the hunk next door (George Krissa)

I already reviewed Christmas on Cherry Lane (2023), where three families live in the same house during three different Christmas seasons. Jonathan and Vincent Rodiguez III adopt a child in two of the four movies in the franchise.

Happy Howlidays (2025) features a webpage editor and an arrogant guy falling in love over pet adoption.  Jonathan comes in hoping to adopt adog from Arrogant Guy (Ezra Moreland) during a pup rescue event and mentions his partner Dale.

4. He's a television personality.

Beginning as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars (2014), where he had a female partner, Jonathan appeared as a contestant, host, or judge on Christmas Cookie Challenge, Celebrity Food Fight, Cake Wars, Cupcake Wars, Celebrity Big Brother, Fetch Me a Date (all heterosexual daters), RuPaul's Drag Race, Halloween Wars, and so on.

Finding Mr. Christmas (2024, 2025) sends men on Christmas-themed challenges, such as designing an ugly sweater, untangling Christmas lights, and flirting with the female lead in a Christmas romcom, with the winner getting a role in a Hallmark movie.  The 2024 winner was Ezra Moreland, Arrogant Guy in Happy Howlidays.

Plus he hosted the 2023 Hollywood Christmas Parade, the 2024 Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and a lot of New Year's Eves.

5. He's rather well hung

But you already knew that from the previous accidental d*ck shot.

6. His husband is a King of Christmas, too

Actor/singer Jayme Vaughan is a former Chippendales dancer and The Amazing Race contestant with five acting credits, usually playing muscle hunks, plus appearance as the host or a correspondent on Access Hollywood, The Billboard Music Awards, the American Music Awards, and The Real Friends of Weho.

His most popular song, with 77,000 hits on Spotify, is "Our Song," which he wrote for Jonathan: "We never did find our song, so I wrote it for you."

He's the King of Christmas because he proposed to Jonathan on the set of The Christmas House, and his album Feels Like Christmas, with all original songs, was released for the Christmas 2024 season.

For many years, Christmas meant two weeks away from the joy of West Hollywood, stuck in my parents' house except for forays to church and to the mall, being interrogated on whether California girls were cute or not and why I didn't move home and take a good-paying job at the factory. Christmas has been so excessively heteronormative for so long that it's rather shocking to see it gay-inclusive.  And it's practically all about Jonathan Bennett.
